Josephine “Jo” Trempe, age 84, of Sheboygan, Wis. passed away peacefully at Pine Haven Christian Communities on Sunday, July 10, 2022.
Jo was born in Sheboygan on March 12, 1938 to the late Walter and Elsie (Schnaitmann) Lieske. She attended local schools and graduated from Central High School in 1956. After graduating, Jo worked as an administrative secretary at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Sheboygan.
On October 30, 1965 she was united in marriage to Norman Trempe. The couple lived in Sheboygan and owned Weeden Orchard where they grew apples and sold cider for many years. Jo’s ambition and dedication was instrumental in the orchard’s success and she was known as the “Apple Lady” to all of the kids who came to the orchard on school trips. When she wasn’t working with the apples, she enjoyed reading, gardening, watching movies, and camping and traveling with her family and friends.
Jo is survived by her daughter Krista (Bob King), son Michael and grandchild Bret. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn (nee Lieske) and Marilyn’s husband John Dehnert and her brother Robert (Vicki) Lieske.
A visitation will be held Friday, July 15, 2022, at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, from 10:00 a.m. am to 12:00 p.m. It will be followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Dale Miller officiating and burial at Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorial funds have been established in Josephine’s name for Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin.
