Joshua James Scherer (41), beloved partner, father, son, brother and friend passed away at his home unexpectedly on May 5, 2023. He was born in Sheboygan to James and LuAnn (Schultz) Scherer on June 19, 1981.

Josh attended Christ Child Academy and Sheboygan South High School graduating in 1999. He was employed for over 15 years at XPO Freight Company.

He is survived by his parents, James and LuAnn (Schultz) Scherer; daughter, Isabelle Scherer; brother, Jason Scherer; sister, Heather Scherer; and his other half, Maegan Mueller. He is also survived by his best hunting buddy, Stella as well as many other friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Josh was an avid outdoorsman. He spent most of his weekends doing what he loves – being outdoors whether it be hunting, fishing, camping or working on the land – he was always there. He was your go-to man for any hunting and fishing expedition. Josh loved living life hands-on, often working on many projects. He looked forward to his yearly camping trips to the marsh and Upper Gresham. Spending time with family and friends making memories was most important to him. Most of all, Josh loved being a dad. Alongside Maegan, Josh cherished the little moments and would light up when talking about Isabelle and sharing pictures of her. His favorite pastime was teaching Izzy all the things he enjoyed – he already had Izzy working on her fishing cast.

He was proud to be a sponsor of Ducks Unlimited and at banquets was often heard saying “It’s for the ducks!” as he was raising money in the air to get in the next raffle.

Josh was loved by anyone that crossed his path. He was outgoing, fun-loving, and always ready for a party. He has left a lasting impression on many people and will be greatly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 South 12th Street, Sheboygan with Fr. Paul Fliss officiating. I worked with Josh when Con-Way freight now XPO opened a small terminal in Sheboygan. Josh had this aura about him that could change the mood of everyone for the better just by walking in the room. Even after XPO moved I would see him at my place of employment making deliveries and we would joke about the days of working together and he would tell me about his little girl and in his words his better half. Josh your boyish sense of humor will me surely missed by everyone you know.

My wife and I live behind Josh, Meagan and Izzy. Josh was the first person I met when I moved to Sheboygan. His enthusiasm and friendliness was incredible, made me happy to have moved to this neighborhood and close to Josh and Meagan. There was always a fire in the backyard and an invitation to join the three of them. This news is devastating and so sad, my heart goes out to all of his family and friends Itis a profound loss to us all.
