June M. Schoening, age 81, of Sheboygan, died on Friday, May 2, 2025, at her home. She was born in Marshfield, WI on October 1, 1943, to the late John and Angeline Smazal Brandl Jr.
June attended local schools in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1961. On November 30, 1969, she was united in marriage to James R. Schoening. He preceded June in death in 1998. June was employed as a bookkeeper at Meadowview Nursing Home in Sheboygan for 30 years, retiring in 2005.
June was a music lover, frequently listening to classic country and polka, and rarely missing the Jerry Schneider radio show. She enjoyed playing the accordion and singing with her family at reunions and other special gatherings. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir at Bethany Reformed Church. June was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan. She enjoyed attending games and following the team on radio and TV. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor and beautiful smile.
Survivors include her two sons, Todd (Anne) Schoening, of Sheboygan, and Troy (Shannon) Schoening, of Austin, AR; three grandchildren, Zakree Schoening and Courtney McCarthy, both of Sheboygan, and Bailey Schoening, of Austin, AR; two great-grandchildren, Jaylen and Javon Day; and her two sisters, Annie Konitzer, of Marshfield, WI, and Donna David, of Necedah, WI. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends. June was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sisters, Violet Paschel and Grace Hoffman, and her brother, James Brandl.
A funeral service for June will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Reformed Church, 1315 Washington Ave. Sheboygan. Family and friends may gather at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in June’s name may be directed to the Sheboygan County Humane Society.
