Katherine “Katie” A. Pungarcher, 71, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center. Katie was a 1973 graduate of the Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley School of Nursing in Roanoke, Virginia. She took much pride in her nursing career and enjoyed the lifelong friendships she made. Katie touched so many lives in her nursing career working with labor and delivery, public health, rehabilitation centers, in-home care, and osteopathic medicine. Katie was a beloved wife, mother, aunt and grandma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Evan Anderson and Katherine VanHuss Anderson of Roanoke, VA.
Surviving to continue her legacy are her loving husband, John Pungarcher Sr. of Sheboygan, WI; daughter, Allison K. Thornton, of Vinton, VA; son, James Evan Thornton, of Sheboygan, WI; step-son John Pungarcher Jr, of Random Lake, WI; step-daughter, Lori Pungarcher, of Sheboygan, WI; grandsons and apples of her eye, Connor T. Thornton, of Kiel, WI and Cole Kovacevic, of Vinton, VA; in addition to several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, WI. Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and CNAs of St. Luke’s Medical Center of Milwaukee, Aurora Sheboygan Medical Center, and Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center for their incredible care during her final days.
