LeRoy Nennig Sr., age 94, of Sheboygan passed away Saturday May 24, 2025. Le Roy was born March 22, 1931, to the late Erwin and Marie (Miller) Nennig. On July 9, 1949, he was united in marriage to Doris VerStrate at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan; she preceded him in death on June 17, 2020. LeRoy was employed as a surgical technician at St. Nicholas Hospital and was a lieutenant with the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department. He and his wife Doris enjoyed dancing, bowling, camping, and spending time with family. LeRoy also enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include children Cory (Mary) Nennig of Gulf Shores, AL, Christine Berg, Andrea (Mike) Stemper, Butch (Dawn) Nennig, Mike (Jennifer) Nennig and Michelle (Alan) Scherg all of Sheboygan, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. LeRoy was further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Doris, parents, son LeRoy Jr., daughter Barbara Capetillo, son-in-law Tom Berg and brother Richard (Charlotte) Nennig.
Family and friends may gather at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Timothy Mech from Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan will officiate.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Sharon S. Richard Community Hospice in LeRoy’s name.
