Lois Jean (Bunke) Moehrke, 92, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, entered Eternal Life on December 8th, 2024. Lois was the third of three children born to the late Edward, Sr. and Olga (Mahnke) Bunke on July 15th, 1932. She became a child of the Heavenly Father through Holy Baptism on July 31st, 1932, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she remained a dedicated and faithful member the rest of her earthly life.

Lois attended Immanuel Lutheran School, and in 8th grade, was confirmed into her Baptismal promises in April of 1946. Lois graduated from Sheboygan Central High School – Class of 1950. For the next 10 years, she was employed in the office of the Leverenz Shoe Company. Later in life, she worked for Pekin Insurance and Companion Care Home Health Services.

On June 13th, 1959, Lois was united in marriage to Daniel J. Moehrke. Lois and Dan met in Walther League and sang in The Lutheran Chorus of Sheboygan. Their wedding trip was with the Sheboygan Lutheran Chorus as they toured and sang concerts in various churches in France, Germany, and England that June. Lois would often comment that her years singing in the chorus were “the best years of my life”.

The couple made their home in Sheboygan and were blessed with two children, Kathleen Lois and Timothy Daniel. Lois was a faithful wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved her house plants and flowers, especially tending to her annuals, which beautifully decorated the exterior of her home for decades. Red geraniums and white petunias being her favorites!

Lois’ time and heart were always in her church. She taught Sunday School, attended Walther League, and sang alto in Immanuel’s A Cappella Choir. She served on many boards during her lifetime, some of which were: the PTL, Ladies Aid, LWML, Stewardship, Evangelism, and represented Immanuel as delegate to Sheboygan Lutheran High School. She never tired of being an active church member – answering the call to do the Lord’s work, while knowing Him as her Savior!

Lois is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (William) Ickstadt of Mondovi, Wisconsin. Her niece, Janet (Rev. Shirrel) Petzoldt of Holland, Ohio. Her nephew, James (Connie) Bunke of Sebewaing, Michigan. A sister-in-law, Carmen Ahearn and two nieces, Carolyn and Virginia, of Massachusetts. She is further survived by two great nieces, two great nephews, and their families.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Lillian, her dear son, Timothy, her brother, Edward, Jr., and her sister-in-law, Elaine.

A funeral service will be held to the Glory of God this Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. The Rev. Donald Johnson, pastor, will preside at the 11:00 am service. Visitation will occur prior to the funeral from 10:00 am until time of service. Burial will occur at Lutheran Cemetery, next to her son, Timothy. Memorial funds are being established in Lois’ name for Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Lutheran High School of Sheboygan.

Lois’s family gives thanks for the skilled and caring nurses, aides, and staff of The American Lutheran Home in Mondovi, Wisconsin, and St. Croix Hospice of Buffalo County, Wisconsin, these past few months.
