Lori Ann Thompson, age 62, of Sheboygan, passed peacefully, gained her wings and joined God’s glory on January 7, 2025 surrounded by family and those closest to her. Lori was born to the late Martin and Elaine (Brady) Thompson on April 24, 1962 in Sheboygan. She graduated from James Madison Elementary School where she made many lifelong friends. Lori also was one of the original participants at RCS, which became the “Special Needs” area, where she continued to add to her list of lifelong friends, and touch the hearts of those she had contact with. Lori loved life and enjoyed many things including painting, themed parties, music, coffee, movies and bumming trips with Lisa. Among many highlights, Lori’s trip to Disney World was one that was unforgettable. She loved to bake and frost cookies, loved glamour, and cherished her weekly Monday visits with her Brother Bobby (and Dianna). Lori developed an unbreakable bond with her niece, Guardian Angel, and closest friend in life Lisa. Lori called Lisa CeCe while growing up, which was the inspiration for CeCe’s Stone Villa, the name of the home that she lived in for the last three years of her life with Lisa, Brett, and her dog Reggie.
Lori is survived by her Guardian, Niece, and Live in caregivers, Brett and Lisa Ver Velde; siblings, Carol (Peter) Kortenhorn, Sue Opgenorth, Patty (Tony) Wojcik, Bobby (Dianna) Thompson, Mary Deehr; loving nieces and nephews including Jack Hogue, Andrea Garrison (and her son Tristan), among others and her best friend, Danielle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas, James, Michael and infant brother Charles Thompson; sister, Toni Grahn; Nephew Scott Thompson, Niece Kim Hogue, Nephew-In-Law Joseph Jacques, Great Niece Gabriella Jacques; her dogs, Brownie and Inka, and many close friends.
A funeral service will take place at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 6:00 p.m with visitation from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:00 p.m. Because of Lori’s deep love for “The Grinch”, the family requests attendees to wear green or Grinch themed attire if possible, in her honor.
Lori’s Family would like thank all those who helped care for her, and us during these last few months and her life. The entire Staff at Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County (especially the Doctor’s, Nurses, and CNAs that found a special place in our hearts: You know who you are). Town of Wilson First Responders, and Orange Cross Ambulance. Last but not least, we would like to thank Tisha, Lynn, Amy, Nicole, and Val, who were not only angels to Lori, but also to us in helping provide the best possible care to “The Kid” as possible. We love and cherish each and every one of you.
