Luanne Sylvia (Schmidt) Owen, age 85, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin went to be with her Lord on Monday April 6, 2026.

She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Luanne was born on April 26, 1940, at home in Sheboygan to John and Sylvia Heling Schmidt. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she also married beloved husband Richard Michael Owen on August 30, 1958. They were married for 67 years. Luanne graduated from Central High School in 1958.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Johnetta (Jim) Wagner.

Luanne was a loving and devoted mother to her four children, Todd (Paula) Owen, Shelly (Wayne) Zimmermann, Michelle (Michael) Walther, and Bradley (Christine) Owen, her grandchildren, Lisa Owen, Rachel (Kris) Mylius, Andrew (Sarah) Owen, Jennifer (Michael) Beringer, Maya Walther, Hailey Walther, and Atlas Owen, and her eight great-grandchildren, Benjamin Mylius, Cameron Beringer, Owen Mylius, Kendall Beringer, Logan Mylius, Avery Owen, William Owen, and Madelyn Mylius.

After her children were grown, Luanne worked for the Aurora Visiting Nurse Association, first as a home health aide and then in their office, from which she retired in 2007.

She cherished spending time with her husband and children, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family time was especially precious to her, and she considered her family her greatest treasure. It was important to her to have a household full of laughter, kindness and joy, which she definitely succeeded in creating.

Throughout her life, Luanne loved hosting holidays, taking many family vacations to Walt Disney World, taking daily rides along the lakefront with her husband, and enjoying lunch at the local Family Restaurant.

She enjoyed reading, doing word search puzzles, crocheting countless blankets for every family member, and using her iPad to remain in close contact with loved ones.

Luanne will be greatly missed, but she leaves a huge legacy of love in her wake.

While there will be no funeral services or visitation, her family will honor her wishes in having a private celebration of her wonderful life.

I worked with Luann at the VNA and she was always a joy to work with. She was such a loving and caring person whether she was taking care of patients or when she was working in the office. She will be greatly missed.

You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of Luann. She always had a smile and a positive attitude. I worked with her at VNA. and she was a great friend. May God hold you in your arms and know prayers are sent for you.

Mike and family, I got to know Luanne when my husband, Keith (deceased) and I, moved next to your family on S 13th St. I enjoyed our time there although we only lived there five years. Your whole family were great neighbors and I truly enjoyed Luanne’s company. So sorry for your loss, may God’s comfort and peace be with you all.

Sharon Gruizenga

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful soul whose love and warmth touched everyone around her. Her devotion as a wife, mother, and grandmother will live on in the countless memories she created and lives she shaped. Wishing your family, comfort, strength, and peace in the days ahead.
