Marion T. Bitney, age 93, of Sheboygan, WI (formerly of Berlin, WI) died Friday, February 28, 2025. Marion was born on December 12, 1931, in Berlin, to the late Theodore and Josephine (O’Kon) Kotloski. She was united in marriage to Verlyn Bitney on December 26, 1952, in Berlin. Her husband, Verlyn, preceded her in death on July 4, 1993. Immediately following their marriage, Marion and Verlyn moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where Verlyn served in the Air Force. They then returned to Berlin after Verlyn completed his service. Marion was employed as a glove maker at Midwestern Sport Togs in Berlin. She was also a meter maid in Berlin for many years and a crossing guard for Clay Lamberton School. Marion loved playing bingo both in Berlin and Redgranite and especially loved square dancing with her husband, Verlyn. Together, with their family, they enjoyed many camping trips to Michigan, Wisconsin, Canada, Key West in Florida, and traveling around the Great Lakes. Marion and Verlyn also enjoyed several trips to Hawaii together. Marion had a special talent for painting, including painting figurines and wooden plates which she often gave to friends and family as treasured gifts. What was most important to Marion, without a doubt, was caring for her family and doing everything she could to ensure their happiness. She most especially will be remembered for being a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law.
Survivors include her sons Jeff (Ronda) Bitney of Green Bay, Ron (Lynn) Bitney of Plymouth, Ken Bitney of Redgranite, grandchildren Shaun Bitney, Riley Bitney, Michael (Jen) Bitney, Johnathon Bitney, Ashley (Dan) Niemela, Shannon (Andy) Kohl, great-grandchildren Ivy Taylor (Bitney), Payton and Abby Bitney, Weston and Mason Niemela and daughter-in-law Yvonne Bitney of Rhinelander. Marion is also survived by her sisters Elizabeth “Mitzi” Schoppenhorst of Berlin, and Barbara Resop of Oshkosh. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sons Bernie Bitney and Tim (Robin) Bitney, and her sister Sandra Kotloski.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
