Mary Helen (Neuburg) Lau, age 94, went to her heavenly home on February 7, 2026.
Born to Joseph and Agnes (Martin) Neuburg, Mary spent her childhood years living at Lake Hubertus, Wisconsin.
Mary married Marvin Lau in 1952 and they were the parents of two daughters, Judy and Sandy.
Mary started her career working at St. Mary’s Hospital in Hartford, Wisconsin where she cared for newborn infants in the obstetrics unit.
Mary and her husband began a successful bar and restaurant, Marv & Mary’s, in Hubbleton, Wisconsin in 1961. Using Mary’s secret recipe, the restaurant became Wisconsin’s top seller of frog legs.
Mary later used her culinary gifts to create homemade meals for the residents of the Sheboygan Salvation Army’s homeless shelter for several years.
At 94, Mary was still a keen canasta card player and also enjoyed knitting.
Mary was a woman of strong faith. She enjoyed Bible studies, daily devotions and was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Judy Schmidt, and grandson Christopher (Rebecca Chew) Schmidt, her brother William (Anita) Neuburg and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, daughter Sandy, her brothers Paul, Leo, Robert and Anthony Neuburg, and her sisters Lorraine Mueller, Aurelia Grosklaus, Cecelia Sinden and Bernadette Wallace.
A funeral service for Mary will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church,1019 North 7th Street in Sheboygan. The family will welcome visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
A Christian burial will take place on Monday, February 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Washington Cemetery in Portland, Wisconsin. GPS coordinates may be set to N313 County Road I, Waterloo, WI. Then, turn onto Cemetery Road. Memorials may be made to the St. Mark Lutheran Church Food Pantry.
