Mary Sue “Susie” Brotz

Mary Sue “Susie” Brotz, age 84, of Sheboygan, passed away on Friday, July 7th, 2023, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by her husband and four daughters. She was born on June 3rd, 1939, daughter of the late Donald and Catherine Pritzl Huebner.

Susie graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. She then attended Spencerian College in Milwaukee studying Business. Susie was employed at the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s for 25 years. On May 24th, 1961, she was united in marriage to James Brotz at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Sheboygan.

Susie enjoyed reading, puzzles, and observing nature. She also loved to spend time with her family. She is well known for her witty sense of humor, and you could never win against her on Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune. Susie and Jim traveled many places. A few of their favorite adventures were to China, Hawaii, Florida, Washington D.C. and a big family trip to California. Susie also had a hobby of Tai Chi which she enjoyed for many years.

Survivors include her loving husband, James Brotz, four daughters Lisa Fortin, Kelly (Tom) Gerber, both of Sheboygan, Wendy (Mark) Weber, of Stevens Point, and Amy (Mitch) Birkey, of Sheboygan, ten grandchildren, Danielle, Lexie, Stephanie, Matthew, Alyssa, Michael, Ryan, Aaron, Mackenzie, and Holland, a great grandson, Leon; her loving sister, Donna Kay (Charlie) Harms, and two brothers-in-law, Robert (Helen) Brotz, and Jerry Brotz. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, and a son-in-law, Andre Fortin, and other relatives.

In accordance with Susie’s wishes, a private service will be held. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff at the Sheboygan Senior Community and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the compassion and care that was given to her.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to James Brotz in honor of Susie at 3839 S. 10th Street, Sheboygan.
