Michael C. Wirth, 84, of Sheboygan, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Michael was born to the late Cletus and Ovella (Noel) Wirth on October 6, 1941 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Michael graduated from the Sheboygan Falls High School class of 1960. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy on Ice Breaker U.S.S. Glacier AGB-4. While in the Navy, Michael made two trips to Antarctica and has been to 49 states. Michael met his wife, Janice Drescher, as pen pals, and the couple was united in marriage on February 2, 1963 at St. Stephens Church in Quinebaug, CT. Michael worked Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut before returning to Wisconsin where he worked at Alliant Energy as a Boiler Operator for many years and was head of the store room where he retired from in 1998. After retiring, Michael was a driver for Kohler Co. for ten years. He is a life member of the Elks #299 and was Exalted Ruler in 1988-1989 and was Past State Vice President for East Central for 2 years. Michael was also the State Chairman for Accident Prevention and Drug Awareness. He was a 4th Degree Knight, Sheboygan Council #722 Knights of Columbus and was a member of the American Legion Post 149, Sheboygan Falls. He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church where he served as Head Usher for 50 years and was a member of the Rosary Mission for Sheboygan North Catholic Parishes where he made over 3000 rosaries. He enjoyed volunteering at St. Mark’s Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels.
Michael is survived by his wife, Janice; son, Mike (Ruth) Wirth of Sheboygan Falls, and daughter, Sandy (Mike) Brill of Oostburg; grandchildren, Noelle (Sam) Allison, Brooke (Josh) Ninneman, Jonathan Wirth, Samantha (Nick) Kisiolek, Erin (Andrew) Meulbroek, Shannon (Jacob) Dulmes, and Nicole (Ross) Kaat; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Johnny (Marilyn) Wirth and sister, Mary (John) McCabe.
He was preceded in death his parents; brother, Peter; grandson Kevin Wirth and mother- and father-in-law Otto and Bernice Drescher.
There will be a visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, and will conclude with the Elks memorial service at 5:00 p.m. A time for visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at St. Clement Catholic Church, 707 N. 6th St., Sheboygan, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Nick Baumgardner officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors being provided by Sheboygan Falls American Legion Post 149.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Clement Catholic Church or the Sheboygan Elks Lodge.
