Nancy Lou (Mares) Spiegelhoff, born April 4, 1932, passed away on December 12, 2024. Her 92 years on earth were a testament to a life filled with LOVE for her beloved Catholic faith, family, friends, neighbors, and God’s poor. Our mother was deeply devoted to the pro-life cause. She believed that the LOVE she gave to God’s needy people on earth was the key to Eternal Love in the Kingdom of Heaven. We believe she is now enjoying that reward.
Nancy is survived by her five children and their spouses: Matthew (Cathy) Om of Eastvale, CA; Mark (Sue) Spiegelhoff of New Berlin, WI; Luke (Gail) Spiegelhoff of Bloomington, MN; Jana (Darren) Harrington of Sheboygan, WI; and Jill (Scott) Emerich of La Crosse, WI. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Nicholas, Ashley, Jarrod, Faith, Bailey, Ben, Ryan, Michael, Shanti, Elizabeth, Corrine and Blake; great-granddaughter, Norah; daughter-in-law, Jill Spiegelhoff; step-grandchildren: Jeremy, Kristi, and Amy; one brother, Jim (Sheryl) Mares of Chicago, IL; brother-in-law, Ron Herman of Carmel, IN; and sisters-in-law Lois Spiegelhoff of Kenosha, WI; Rita (Randy) Frye of Kenosha, WI; and Elena Spiegelhoff of Burlington, WI; as well as brother-in-law Norman Spiegelhoff of Silver Lake, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Germaine Mares; a stillborn baby girl, Ann; her son, John Spiegelhoff; three brothers: Tom (Pat) Mares, Dick (Jane) Mares, and Harry (Gerri) Mares; two sisters, Marilyn (George) Moore and Sue Herman; Dale Spiegelhoff, the father of her children; and brothers-in-law Kenny, Donald (Joyce), and Richard Spiegelhoff; as well as sister-in-law Edith Spiegelhoff.

Mary Ann Moore

Dear Matt, Mark, Luke, Jana and Jill, Your Mom was also my godmother. She was always thinking of her extended family who she loved without limits. I know I was the recipient of her guidance and prayers in many instances throughout my life. I will never forget her as a faithful daughter, sister, godmother and aunt. I recall my Mom telling me a few days before she passed that she had just had a visit from her Mom and Daddy. She was so happy to see them. They were welcoming her even then. It makes me very happy to know that Grandma and Grampa, Tom, Dick, Marilyn, Harry and Susie were welcoming your Mom with open arms to their eternal home. Love and happy memories you all of you and your families, Mary Ann and family

Nancy was the sweetest. I had the honor of taking care of her. She would ask me to sing to her and tell me about the origin of my name. So sorry for your loss. She will be missed .

"Well done, my good and faithful servant." (MT 25:23) I imagine that is what our Lord said to Aunt Nan when he received her on Dec. 12. Our conversations were always connected to her faith in God and how to live it our more fully. She had unique turns of phrases, but her whole life was a faithful attempt to emulate our Lord. She was a faithful benefactor of my mission work here in Korea, and thus reminded me of the widow who gave from her poverty. (LK 21:1-4). She was always concerned about the poor and marginalized throughout the world. The many she helped while on earth are rejoicing in her entry into the Kingdom of Love as our Lord's "good and faithful servant." Well done, Aunt Nan, and thank you on behalf of all those you served in this life!!

Aunt Nancy was the sweetest aunt you could have! It was always great to travel to Green Bay from Wild Rose every summer to visit her and all the Spiegelhoff cousins! Great memories that are special to me! The image of most of the siblings together again in heaven puts a smile on my face! May the good Lord grant you all peace. Bobo and family
