Norman Berg was born on November 5, 1928 and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and deceased family members and friends on June 17, 2025 at the age of 96. He attended school at Holy Name, Urban, and North High School, where he played basketball, football and ran track.
He worked for Leverenz Shoe Company where he met his future wife, Frances and tended bar part-time at the Playdium Bowling Alley. Norman was hired as a deputy sheriff with the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s department where he was employed for 24 years before his retirement in 1983. He was promoted on the department to the ranks of sergeant on the Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP), was a patrol sergeant and became a lieutenant of patrol where he served until his retirement. When originally hired, Norman also worked part-time for a private garbage collection company. He attended numerous law enforcement and management training programs including some at Northwestern University Traffic Institute.
Norman was drafted into the United States military and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean War years and was stationed in Germany in an artillery unit.
On September 15, 1951 Norman was united in marriage with Frances M. Chopich at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. They remained married for 66 years until her death in 2017. He was a loving father, grand and great-grandfather who put family first. Over the years, Norman enjoyed playing softball and bowling in various Sheboygan leagues and sponsors. He managed his sons, Glenn and James when they played softball on the same team. In addition, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, daughter Donna, other family members and numerous beagle hunting dogs. Spending time with family, grand and great-grandchildren was very important to Norman.
Norman was an avid Wisconsin sports teams fan of the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks, but held a sweet spot in his heart for the Brooklyn, later to become the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Family survivors include: his son, Glenn (Linda Lou); grandchildren Amy Berg (partner Rob Drone), Michael Berg (partner Nadia Sarakbi), Angela (Jerrod) Jensema, James Worth, Jonathan (Stacy) Berg, Jessica Berg and Jeremy Berg; 9 great-grandchildren, Elijah, Lotus, Brynlee, Patchouli, Landon, Stella, Emirah, Yarrow and Hayes; son-in-law, John Worth; many nieces and nephews.
