Patrick M. Ziegenhorn, 73, of Milwaukee, formerly of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, surrounded by family & friends. Born in Sheboygan on September 14, 1950, he was the son of the late Maurice “Babe” and Mary Suscha Ziegenhorn, proprietors of the popular Zieggy’s bar.
Patrick attended Ss. Cyril & Methodius grade school, then Saint Francis de Sales Seminary for his freshman year, and ultimately graduating from Sheboygan South High School in 1968. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1972. In 1976 he received a Major Equivalency in Church Music and Organ from Alverno College. He furthered his education at St. Norbert College, earning his Master of Theological Studies in Theology & Liturgy.
Patrick began his career as Director of Music at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church and later St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Sheboygan. He retired as the Director of Liturgy & Music from St. Roman’s Parish in Milwaukee on January 31, 2017. He was also the first recipient of the Vatican II Award for Service in Liturgy in 1991.
Patrick enjoyed travelling the world and collecting foreign currency. He loved to tell stories of his adventures, with each one full of the joy, kindness, and generosity he spread to others, and usually culminating with his deep, hearty laugh. He will be missed.
Survivors include his sister, Janie Eisenschink, and niece, Maureen (Jason) Anderson, both of Sheboygan Falls. Many other relatives and life-long friends also survive. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved Boston Terrier, “Scrappy.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Charles Conley at Noon on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 822 New Jersey Avenue, Sheboygan. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church from 9:30 until 11:45am. Following the mass, Patrick will be laid to rest at Greendale Cemetery (Zelina Dolina).
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Patrick’s name, with recipients being both Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, (of which Patrick’s grandmother, Johanna Fale Suscha, was a founding charter member), and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

My deepest sympathies to Patrick’s family and dear friends. He touched so many lives with his music and knowledge of our Catholic faith. I enjoyed serving on the St Roman Liturgy Committee with him. I truly enjoyed helping him during Holy Week and especially the Easter Vigil. We had some great talks over meals and I will miss hearing about his travel adventures. Knowing he is truly resting in peace with our Lord is our comfort.
