Paul M. Schmitt, age 58, of Sheboygan, died on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. He was born in Sheboygan on October 21, 1964. He was the son of Peter and Barbara Schmitt.
Paul attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1983. On September 12, 1987, he was united in marriage to Patricia Betke at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Paul was employed as a Line Leader at Old Wisconsin Sausage for almost 40 years.
He was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. Paul loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He especially loved to go duck hunting with his dog “Ruby”. Paul also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of Sheboygan; two children, Abbey (fiancée Brandon Broetzmann) Schmitt, of Waupun, and Blake Schmitt, of Sheboygan; two sisters, Lynda Schmitt, of Sheboygan, and Karen (Keith) Fiend, of Belgium; a brother, Mark Schmitt, of Fond du Lac; and his mother, Barbara Schmitt, of Sheboygan; sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Scott) Balde, of Oostburg and Bill (Amy) Betke, of Howards Grove. Many other relatives and friends further survive. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Schmitt, and a sister, Christine Schmitt.
A visitation for Paul will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 South 12th Street, Sheboygan. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Paul’s name.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff at Vince Lombari Cancer Clinic and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the compassion and care that was given to Paul.
