Raymond Stampfl

Raymond Stampfl, age 98, formerly of Sheboygan, passed away on July 12, 2025 in Green Bay where he had resided with his son and daughter-in-law for the past seven years. He was born in Sheboygan to Anton and Rosa Stampfl on May 5,1927. Because of his mother’s illness the family moved to Alabama for several years. After his mother passed away when he was seven, he and his Dad moved back to Sheboygan. He attended three schools in third grade: Washington, Lincoln, and Mapledale. He transferred to Trinity Lutheran in 8th grade where he was confirmed in 1942. He then attended Central High School for three years before joining the U.S. Navy in 1945. Upon discharge in January 1948, he returned to Central High and graduated in 1948. He then accepted a position as a teller at the former Bank of Sheboygan. He then worked at Honold & LaPage for 36 years until his retirement in 1989.
He had a passion for roses and his yard on South 7th Street in Sheboygan was there for all to see. He belonged to the Milwaukee Rose Society and the Green Bay Rose Society. He and Melba delivered Meals on Wheels for 15 years.
On September 6, 1952, he married Melba Seltz., they observed their 72nd wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife, Melba, and five children, Dr. Mark (Barbara) Gig Harbor, WA; John (Kathy), Kenosha; Dr. Sharon (Jay Okey), Seattle, WA; Dr. David (Dr. Connie), Green Bay; Dr. Daniel (Dr. Sharon Schriewer), Salt Lake City, UT. Raymond is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Dr. Aaron, Denver, CO; Joel (Jessica) Chicago, Julia Rigoni, Pleasant Prairie, Anna Fabian (Thomas), Kenosha; Alex (Firsty) Kenosha; Emily Okey (Jonathan Sanger), Seattle, WA; Sarah Okey (Jake Pavlovics); Seattle, Erika (Adam) Post, Green Bay; Dr. Matthew (Dr. Cassandra Chiao), Madison, WI; Dr. Ben Brooklyn, NY, and Karl Schriewer, Salt Lake City. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Sofia Rigoni, Oliver Stampfl, Emmeline and Henry Fabian, Esther Melba, Honna Marlene, and Meera Elisabeth Post, and Adeline Rae Okey Sanger. He is further survived by brother, James, Houston, TX, sister, June Strieby, Grand Rapids, MI., and several nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother, Lydia, and sister, Ruth Butler, and a son, James, in 1997.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Sheboygan Area Lutheran High School. He was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1614 S. 23rd St., Sheboygan, where services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Reinbold-Novak Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow the service at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

I waited on Ray and Melba at Charcoal Inn in the mid 1970's, they were always very happy and kind. They were proud of their family. So many years together, truly blessed for their service to God.
