Robert “Bob” A. Minster, age 99, of Sheboygan passed away Saturday, November 15,
2025. Bob was born February 24, 1926, in Sheboygan to the late Rudolph Sr.
“Rudi” and Norma (Stubenrauch) Minster. He grew up in the Grant School area
and lived in Sheboygan all his life. Bob was a 1945 graduate of North High
School. In 1938 he began his involvement with the Sheboygan Turners.
Horizontal bar, floor routine, parallel bars, and vaulting were his specialties. He competed at
different levels in local and state competitions. As kids Bob, his brother Norman,
and twin brother Rudy, performed as clowns in shows at the old Turner Hall at 9th St
and St. Clair Ave, in the comedy troop The Comedy Bumps. At age 15, he
performed for a period of time with the Flying La Blont’s aerial circus out of
Peking, IL, on the triple high bar. As an adult Bob taught gymnastics for over 25 years to
both boys and girls. Bob held the position of President of the Sheboygan organization, was
on the state board and was a judge at district meets. Additionally, he performed on the single horizontal bar, triple horizontal bars and the perch pole thoughout the mid-west. Bob played and competed in volleyball at both local & state levels until he was 85 (1951 – 2010) through the Turner organization and the Sheboygan YMCA.
As a child, Bob was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the level of Life Scout.
As an adult, he was a leader working with the different levels of the organization.
At the end of WWII, he enlisted into the regular U.S. Army earning his way up to
Corporal T4. While in the Army he was an official Army photographer, on call
24/7. He took pictures of GI’s, Army incidents, accidents and USO celebrities.
Bob moved through four different camps providing photos when needed. He was
honorably discharged in July of 1947.
Bob served his apprenticeship as a tinsmith at Ted Kuck Co where he also received
his journeyman license. He remained in the HVAC industry from 1951 until 1991. He
worked his way up to shop foreman and worksite foreman. Bob later worked at
various HVAC companies in Sheboygan County and finally retired from Tweet
Garot in Green Bay in 1991.
On September 11, 1948, he was united in marriage to Dorothy “Dottie” Stueber at
St. Peter Claver Catholic Church; she preceded him in death on February 15, 2011.
Dorothy and Bob traveled the world and almost all 50 states. During the majority
of his life, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church with his wife
Dorothy. Both Bob and his wife led students on mission trips to various locations
on the eastern seaboard of the U.S. repairing and building houses. In his
retirement he enjoyed woodworking and doing ceramics.
Bob is survived by his six children David Minster of Melbourne, Arkansas, Carole
(Scott) Wagner of Sheboygan, Robert “Rob” (Nan) Minster of Sheboygan Falls,
Richard (Colleen) Minster of Sheboygan, Ann Daniels (special friend Sam) of
Sheboygan, Cris Fritsch (special friend David) of Fond du Lac, 11 grandchilden,
15 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, and two sisters-in-law Mary
Stueber and Ruth Neisius.
Family and friends may gather at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th
Street, Sheboygan, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time
of service at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund had been established in Bob’s name.
Bob’s family wishes to extend a special heartfelt thank you to everyone involved with caring for
him at the Sheboygan Senior Community. Toot Toot!
