Robert Lynn Western, 78, of Sheboygan passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025. He was born on July 26, 1947 to the late Lyle and Joyce Western. Bob grew up in Bergland, MI and graduated from Bergland High School. He then received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from Michigan Technological University in 1969.
Upon graduation Bob was hired by General Adjustment Bureau, thus beginning his long career in the insurance industry. In the early 80’s Bob was approached by the board of directors of Wilson Mutual Insurance Company to lead the company into the future. How he loved that job; the company grew from 4 employees to 130 in the 33 years he was the manager, then president and CEO. Bob served on the board of directors of Guilderland Reinsurance Company, Motorists Commercial, Iowa Mutual, and Wilson Mutual Insurance Companies.
Bob and Kathleen Worachek were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ewen, MI and celebrated 55 years of love in February. They have two children who brought them unbelievable pride and joy: Stephanie Lynn Cutlan (Robert) and Christopher Robert Western. Bob is blessed to have eight treasures who call him Papa: Rachel (Jacob), Marissa, Michelle (fiancé Austin), and Daniel Cutlan, and Trey, Naomi, Keegan, and Halle Western. He was the best Papa ever- so silly and fun.
Bob had a love and appreciation for classic cars and enjoyed taking his grandchildren for rides on their “Papa fun days” or just going for a cruise. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and sure had fun on the golf course. Bob and Kathy were able to do a lot of traveling, though his very favorite place to be was their cottage in Oconto County.
In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Bob is survived by his sisters: Sherry Havela (John), Barbara Matthews, Carol Dix (Ron), and Julie Zuge (Jim). He is further survived by his much-loved in-laws: Steve and Kathy Worachek, Dan and Vivian Driskill, and Alden Worachek, and by his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathy’s parents, and Tony and Janet Chaves.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1305 Humboldt Avenue, Sheboygan with Father Paul Fliss officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 1:00 p.m.
The family would like to express profound gratitude to the staff at Pine Haven Christian Communities and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their genuine love and care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to The Gathering Place at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls.
The Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.reinboldfh.com
