Ruth Helen Fibiger was born in Sheboygan, WI on August 11, 1924 the daughter of Rudolph and Wilhelmenia Selke and passed away on November 24, 2021 at the age of 97.
She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Grade School and was a graduate of North High School, class of 1942. On August 23, 1947 she married Frederick Fibiger at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Hermann Wegner officiating. After 72 wonderful years of marriage Frederick passed away on December 1, 2019. Ruth was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
In addition to raising her children, she worked at HC Prange and volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Mobile and Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed going to the theater, dancing and traveling both in the US and in Europe.
Ruth is survived by her two children: Richard (Michelle) Fibiger (Midland, MI) and Mary Lou Fibiger (Klaus) Uhl (Frankfurt, Germany), five grandchildren, Ryan (Katherine) Fibiger, Kelly (Steven) Nash, Michael (Tristen) Fibiger, Sabina Uhl, and Niklas (Charoline) Uhl and seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by three brothers William (Frieda) Selke, Otto (Lorraine) Selke, Edward (Shirley) Selke and four sisters, Martha (Alex) Niesing, Ida (Tony) Popovich, Viola (Elmer Gross/Leo Brcerather), and Lucille (Charles) Baumann.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at a future date.
