Sonia was born on February 26, 1943 and passed away on November 30, 2024 at the age of 81. She attended local schools including Sheboygan Central High School. Sonia was united in marriage with David Herber on June 15, 1963 and spent 61 wonderful years together. During her working years she was employed by the Sheboygan Area School District and later managed the Uni-Mart in Sheboygan. Sonia enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events, camping, cross stitching keepsakes for family and friends, spending time in Door County and Tomahawk, traveling, cross country skiing, reading and hosting family and friends for the holidays in which we all enjoyed her cooking and baking. More than anything, she loved being able to help raise her four grandchildren.
Sonia is survived by her husband, David; children, Sherry (Steve) Rieger, Richard (Debbie) Herber, Dawn (Jeff) Spangle and Ryan Herber; grandchildren, Stephanie Rieger (fiancé Thomas Elias) Alyssa Rieger, Samuel Spangle and Cole Spangle. She is further survived by many other family members and friends. Sonia is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Julia Fuchs; sisters, Ruth Anderson, Marian (Roger) Horness and Patricia (Sherman) Moe; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Marcella Herber; brothers-in-law, Richard and James Herber and sister-in-law, Margene Herber.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County and the Sharon S. Richardson Palliative Care for their care of Sonia.
We were truly blessed to have such a wonderful mom that played such an important role in all of our lives.

We are so sorry for your loss of wife, mother and grandmother. We enjoyed all the times we spent of late talking and eating together. Sonja loved to talk of her grandchildren and their activities. As her health decreased, we truly missed her wit, charm and company.
