Suzanne “Sue” Sholten, age 84 of Sheboygan passed away Thursday September 25, 2025. Sue was born September 5, 1941, in Kohler to the late Joe and Elvira (Weinhold) Machut. She attended Kohler schools and graduated from Kohler High School. Following graduation she attended UW-Milwaukee for Art and Design. Sue was employed by Kohler Company in the mailroom, and was an assistant manager at Richmond Brothers men’s clothiers prior to retiring from Associated Bank.

Sue was an extraordinary woman with a remarkable spirit that showed up as a mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Sue had impeccable taste that could be seen in the way she dressed, decorated her home and picked out greeting cards. Sue loved her family dearly and lit up anytime she saw us. Sue carried herself with class and was well loved by all of us. Sue enjoyed traveling, the arts, classical music, volunteering at the Weill Center and was a member of the Red Hats Club. Sue and Russ donated over 5000 hours to the Weill Center and were recognized for their efforts.

Survivors include her loving husband Russell, son Jay Bauer of Little Chute, step-sons Scott (Stacy) Sholten of Minneapolis, Gary (Mary) Sholten of Sheboygan, step-daughters Pam Gardapee (Gary Graskamp) of Sheboygan, Mary (Gregg) Pantel of Sheboygan, and Linda Sholten of Eau Claire, grandchildren Elena Bauer and Jackson Bauer, step-grandchildren Olivia Keogh, Abbey (Ben) Plocar, Hannah (Ryan) Rasmussen, Paige (Ben) Gordon, Hope Sholten, Jason (Charlie) Gardapee, Amanda (Justine) Gardapee, Drew Pantel (Scarlett Lewis), Taylor (Allyson) Pantel and Katelyn Kinnear, step great-grandchildren Nova Keogh, Brynn and Connor Plocar, Elijah and Letti Rasmussen, Alivia, Ellie and Graham Gardapee, Creighton, Cainen, and Myles Pantel and ex daughter-in-law Georgine Bauer.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Walter Bauer, twin brother John Machut and her beloved dog – Daisy.

Family and friends may gather at Bethany Lutheran Church, 222 Church Street in Kohler on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. Pastor John Berg from Trinity Lutheran Church downtown will officiate.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Sue’s name.

Sue’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Cedar Grove Gardens for their wonderful care.
