Thomas Gene Berg – “Papy” to Everyone
Tom passed away unexpectedly fast on January 7, 2019 due to getting pneumonia in his lungs which affected his heart problem. In the process of trying to fix his breathing and then his heart he had a small heart attack which was hard to bring him back from and we lost him to the angels. He’s no longer in any pain or sickness.
He was born Thomas Gene Berg on February 15, 1956 to Harold and Bette (Arenz) Berg. He attended schools and lived in Sheboygan all his life. On April 26, 1974 he married Christine Nennig who he is still married to. This April would have marked 45 years. Over the years he became a very skilled and talented carpenter but was also a jack of all trades. If he didn’t know how to do something, he would figure it out. He worked for Mastercraft Builders before getting sick.
Papy had three daughters: Tina (Nathan) Ebert, Stacey Berg and Amy (Parish) Berg. The family grew over the years to include a person he called his “other daughter”, Kerry Tershner as well as another he called “his kid”, the boy he never had, Jeff Klug. He is also survived by his sister Dona Crane and other extended family.
Tom had a passion for motorcycles. He loved to just get on it and, as he would say, “let the wind blow through his “sexy silvers”. Tom was a person who would take to anyone and make them smile just by being him. He would do anything for anybody. He loved being around friends and family and having fun. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and going camping.
He was an awesome grandfather to his grandchildren: Austin Zychowicz, Felipe Escobar-Berg (Amanda Van Sluys), Kimberly Ebert, Alexzander Berg, Nathan Ebert, Rhyle Escobar-Berg and Rayvon Ebert. He is further survived by two nephews, Christopher and Bradley Crane.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Charlie Crane, Leroy Nennig Jr., and Thomas Clement; sister-in-law Barbara Capetillo, and his grandmother-in-law Marie Nennig and uncle Thomas Kraus.
The funeral for Thomas will be held on January 12, 2019 at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, WI 53081. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the service will follow at 3:00 p.m.
