Ursula Hannelore Christa Stoelb passed away on April 26, 2026, at the age of 84, after a prolonged illness which took her memory but not her heart. She kept her spunk until her last breath. Ursula was born on October 13, 1941 in Berlin-Adlershoff, East Germany to Erwin and Gertrud (Neumann) Elsholz. Her father died on the Russian front during World War II, and after a few years was also raised by her step-father Herman Groth.
She escaped from communist Germany at a young age and came to the United States in 1964 settling first in Chicago, IL and later in Sheboygan, WI, then becoming a citizen of the United States.
Ursula met Dennis Stoelb through mutual friends and they were married on February 5, 1966. The couple welcomed two children, Scott and Michelle, early in their almost 58 years of marriage. Dennis was called home in 2024.
After coming to the United States, Ursula worked at Lakeland Shoe Company, Sears and for many years as a waitress at Rupp’s Lodge and The American Club. Then not wanting to retire fully worked various small jobs well into her 70’s, and finally officially retiring in 2020. Ursula was often remembered by patrons and friends for her thick German accent which she never lost through her many years in the United States.
Ursula is preceded in death by her husband Dennis, her mother and father, Erwin and Gertrud, and her stepfather Hermann; her mother-in-law Loretta Stoelb and fathers-in-law Bernard Stoelb, Herbert Kummerow and Kenneth Hlinak.
Those left to mourn her passing are her children, Scott (Brenda) Stoelb and Michelle (Ed) De Vaney; grandchildren Mckenna (Fiancé Ethan Rasmussan), Taylor, Nick and Noah Stoelb, Grace, Chloe and Ryan DeVaney; step grandchildren, Raven (Eric) Noss and Shaun Neils; great-grandchild, Jaxen; step-sister Renate Hoffman and brother-in-law Gary (Karen) Kummerow; nieces and nephew, Rebecca, Kristin and Ryan Kummerow; and many other friends and family in Germany, Australia and the United States.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. at Immanuel Bible Church, 2428 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan. The committal will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her special friend, Logan, and the staff at the Lakehouse and Sharon S. Richardson Community for the care given to Ursula.
