W. James “Jim” Grasse

On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, W. James (Jim) Grasse passed away after a brief illness at the age of 95.
Jim was born on December 21, 1927, in Sheboygan, WI to Walter L. and Eddina Grasse. He married Hermine Ribich in 1950 and they raised 4 children. On December 9, 1989, he married Mary Trester-Mickelson.
Jim was the proud owner and operator of Verifine Dairy. His family had been associated with the dairy for three generations. Jim was known for saying “I am Verifine, how are you?” Jim served in the US Army and was deployed to Korea. For 73 years he was a member of the Sheboygan Elks Lodge and had the longest membership in the lodge. He was a member of the Sheboygan Yacht Club and the Bluebird Wanderlodge Motorhome Group. He was proud of the work he did with the City of Sheboygan Work Force Development Center, the Sheboygan Parking and Transit System where he served as President, the Chamber of Commerce where he served as a Chairman of the Board, he had a leadership role in the Private Industry Council and the National Ice Cream Council. Jim enjoyed golfing at Pine Hills TWA Days, the Green Bay Packers, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, his children, Tom (Sharon) Grasse, Tim (Sue) Grasse, Jamie (Jim) Kitzinger and Ted (Jill) Grasse, step-children Peter (Lisa) Mickelson and Jeannine (Bryan) Shelby. His grandchildren David, Kevin, T. James, Nicole Grasse; Jack Kitzinger; Bryan Dreps; Nolan Rucker; Jacob and Justin Mickelson; Emily and Katie Shelby; and four great-grandchildren.
Per Jim’s wishes, there will be no services held.
