Wayne R. Adams, 90, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully at LakeHouse Sheboygan on Monday, February 24, 2025 surrounded by his family and friends. Wayne was born to the late Ray and Lorraine (Meinhardt) Adams on November 5, 1934 in Colfax, Wisconsin. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. Wayne was united in marriage late Betty Schwartz on June 1, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Walsh, WI.
Wayne proudly served in the United States Air Force ranked Airman First Class stationed in Two Creeks, WI. Wayne worked at City News, H.C. Prange Co. and the Sheboygan Police Department fulfilling duties of Patrolman, Sergeant, Lieutenant and retired as Captain. He was also the Commander of the SWAT team. He was an avid golfer and part of the Legends Club at Riverdale Country Club where he recorded 6 holes-in-one. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, card club with friends, collecting coins and golf balls. He also enjoyed meals and activities with his buddies, Richard and Big Al, at LakeHouse. He and his wife Betty enjoyed many winters in Florida with a group of their friends. He was a member of Our Redeemer Church and part of the Sheboygan Police Benevolent Association. Wayne loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his three children, Lori (Robert) Gottowski and their children Brian and Nicholas, Sheboygan, Jay (Patty) Adams and their children, Kayla and Kyle, Sheboygan, Jill (Steven) Spielvogel and their children Aaron, Derek and Alec, Sheboygan; nine great-grandchildren and one due in May as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; sisters Joan and Karen; brother Roger; infant son Dean and special friend for many years, Joan Pantel.
A memorial service for Wayne will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 3027 Wilgus Ave., Sheboygan, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Private committal will take place later at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, Wayne requested that any memorials could be made to Our Redeemer Sheboygan, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ronald McDonald House or Make-a-Wish Foundation.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of LakeHouse Sheboygan, Allay Hospice, Dr. Wolfert and her staff, and Dr. Barnes for their wonderful care. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Wayne’s circle of neighbors and friends who kept an eye out for him and helped when needed.
